When did you discover Tumblr?

Apparently I discovered Tumblr in November, 2009. All my livejournal friends were slowly but surely making their way here and I band-wagoned on. Hence, “all right, fine,” like, “all right, fine, I’ll create a Tumblr.” I don’t think I really started posting in earnest until about six months ago because Doctor Who fandom was alive and kicking over here in a way it no longer seems to be on livejournal.

Your favorite fandom?

This is like asking me to pick a favorite child, which would be easier, because I only have one kid. Um. Right now it’s Doctor Who fandom because it’s the first one I’ve felt really invested in in a long time. I guess it would be Harry Potter though. Like, my Gryffindor tattoo is because, okay, yes, that’s my house, but also because that fandom was a huge part of who I became — I switched my major to involve writing, etc., while all that was going on and it’s sort of a part of me now. Oh good grief, that was almost unbearable, reading that over.

Favorite book you had to read in school?

I read Catcher in the Rye years before I was required to read it in school, and had read it several times by then, but I was technically assigned it at some point. That was my favorite book of all time for a while, but I think I feel a little over-exposed with it anymore. I don’t know, it’s probably still my favorite, but I say “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius” anyway because I’m an insufferable jerk who reads Dave Eggers.

Do you have a particular place you go to think? 

Lately, my car, because when I’m home, even if Alphonse is watching the baby, I always feel like I have to get involved and then no thinking gets done. True story: I wasn’t paying attention and left my car on, but not the engine, while I was writing the sleeping together (finally) for after the Gallifrey Records GitF stuff and drained my battery. Al had to come give me a jump.

Favorite Disney flick?

Toy Story. Buzz Lightyear is my Disney patronus. But also: Oliver and Company. Little Jamie had a stuffed Oliver she carried around for a while, back in the day.

Favorite fanfiction?

Both, Mending, Miles to Go from wishiknewwho. I don’t feel like linking these again because it’s getting weird, I’m getting weird. I’m sure there’s an X-Files fic I’m forgetting somewhere, but it’s been a while.

Star Trek or Star Wars? And why?

Star Wars. Because it’s always been Star Wars for me.

What is the most intriguing historical era, in your opinion?

That is a broad question! I don’t know that I can pick one. Maybe Caesar-era Rome.

Are you happy living where you are right now?

Not especially, I don’t think most people living in Vegas like it here long term anymore. Plus, and I can’t believe this is a thing I’m saying, but the school district is atrocious.

What job (that you’ve held in your life) did you hate the most?

I once worked at Target for three days and made my mom quit for me. I was just barely 16, it was first job and it was awful. I’ve had pretty decent jobs since then and the one I’m at now is generally terrific.

What is your favorite accent?

Some sort of British thing.
